  Thank goodness for the waiting staff who saved the day. The menu was uninspiring and had no healthy choice. It was a hot day and there was not a single salad dish on the main course menu, so we had the smoked salmon starter with a side of Caesar salad. The salmon dish was fine but we had to ask for a piece of lemon. The salad consisted of a few lettuce leaves and my friend had two croutons (I had five). There were a few scrapings of Parmesan cheese, which needs to be finely grated and was not, and the dressing (which did arrive separately in a little pot as requested) was NOT a classic Caesar dressing but something just squeezed out of a bottle. They did increase the size of the salad when we complained, but it wasn't much more tempting. They were apparently training a new chef and were so busy his work had not been checked. Our complaints were dealt with politely and promptly and the half an hour waiting time we were warned about was only 15 minutes. Lamentably understaffed and quite pricey. Location beautiful, though.

  Really good about allergies. At first it didn't seem so, as we sat in the burger outside area, however, after we ordered, 2 members of staff came and spoke to me and they made sure they checked absolutely everything before serving my daughter her burger (she is very allergic to nuts). Very helpful.
  The only downside: a bit overpriced in comparison to other pubs in the area.

  Great location right on the river bank so you can watch the canal boats go by. Decent real ales but you probably wouldn't come here if it wasn't for the location. Their website describes it as shabby chic, but there's not much chic. Virtually no parking, but there's a pay car park next door.

  Really nice pub, especially when it's sunny. Views of the river are lovely and the food is good. Outside has been refurbished really nicely.
